About

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I studied at University of New Brunswick and York University before moving to London, England in 1993. I received my Ph.D. in contemporary art practice in1998 from Central Saint Martins College of Art. Specializing in sculpture, my Ph.D. was part of the CSM Foundry Research Project funded by the Leverhulm and Henry Moore Foundations. I went on to be the joint Head of Sculpture at Camberwell College of Arts (1998-2004) and ran a post-graduate lecture programme in contemporary performance in Scenography at Central Saint Martins College (1999-2009). I was a Research Fellow at Central School of Speech and Drama (2007-08) and led the research programmes in Sculpture and Fine Art at the Royal College of Art (2000-2015). Since 2015, I have been based in Mexico, which affords me the time to focus on my art practice full-time.

TRISH

My work takes form in writing, performance, sculpture and teaching. I am one half of the art & music duo, Viralux, which I founded with Gordon Dawson in 2001. While we largely record and produce music and videos, we have mostly performed in the context of art galleries in London including; Five Years Gallery, Camden Arts Centre, Arcola Theatre, Matt’s Gallery, Beaconsfield Gallery and most recently Forbidden City, Antwerp. I am currently living in Mexico and am artist-in-residence at the art foundry Art21 Studio, Guadalajara. I will be posting regularly here on this website about past, present and future projects, including; essays, performances, music and sculpture.

LYONS

I awoke in a dream, all human, pure animal, sensing the space between my eyes and my feet formed an outline that unfolds over an ever shifting horizon. I find being an artist allows me to be an effective human being. It gives me the tools to make, to write, to speak and to teach. Worlds within worlds, life is complex, full of wonders, mystery and riddles. I am just trying to figure it out as best I can, through mistakes, compassion and imagination.
